Feel like your iPhone 5 battery drains too quickly? There may actually be a battery defect causing the problem. Apple announced an iPhone 5 Battery Replacement Program for some of the iPhone 5 phones sold between September 2012 and January 2013. Here's how to check if your phone is among the batch with a battery issue:

  • Open the Settings app on your iPhone 5.

  • Go to the General -> About section of the app.

  • Scroll down to Serial Number

  • Type your specific Serial Number numbers and letters into the form on this Apple support page:

If you qualify, Apple recommends making a backup of your iPhone and doing a factory reset (wipe all of your data) before you bring your phone in. We also recommend making sure all of your camera-roll photos are imported to your computer or wherever you save your photos!
