How to View Your iPhone's Debugging Log

In this article, we're going to show you how to view your iPhone's debugging logs live via the iPhone Configuration Utility.

  1. Download the iPhone Configuration Utility for your computer. (Mac OSX) (Windows)

  2. Run the iPhone Configuration Utility and plug in your iPhone to your computer. If your iPhone doesn't appear in the devices list on the left side, or you get an error, open iTunes and plug in your iPhone again, so that you can go through the "trust" dialog1.

  3. Select your iPhone from the "Devices" list at the bottom of the left column.

  4. Click the "Console" tab.

  5. Scroll around, or export your log to a text file using the "Save Console As..." button for easier reading and searching. If you're testing out a specific problem, I recommend pressing the "Clear" button to erase all of the old text, reproduce your problem, and then click "Save Console As..." to save the nice isolated log text to a file.

Please leave us a comment if you have a question! We hope this helps you out!

  1. New in iOS7, you need to go through trust establishment with any computer that you plug your iPhone into.
