How to Save Photos from an iPhone Backup

To save the all of the camera photos from your iPhone backup:

  1. Install Decipher Backup Browser from this link, and then run it. http://deciphertools.com/download-decipher-backup-browser.html
  2. Select your iPhone backup and then select Camera Roll Gallery.
  3. Press the “Save” button. You’ll be prompted to select a location to save the photos.

To pick and choose the camera roll photos and save individually:

  1. Install Decipher Backup Browser from this link, and then run it. http://deciphertools.com/download-decipher-backup-browser.html
  2. Click on your backup, and then select Camera Roll and Photo files.recover-iphone-photos.png
  3. Expand the folder Media, and then expand DCIM. You’ll see a lot of 1XXAPPLE folders, which are all of the camera roll folders. It’s normal for some of the earlier ones to be empty and have a red X on the icon.
  4. You can double-click photos to open them. An encrypted file will prompt you for your backup password (your password will be remembered for the remainder of the run of the program, not saved anywhere!)
  5. You can select folders or multiple files (hold ctrl/command to select multiple files) and choose save to copy them out of the backup (and decrypt as needed.)
