If you just downloaded and installed Decipher TextMessage and you don't see your iPhone in the left hand column of the software, here is what to do:
Make a backup new backup of your iOS device on your computer - Decipher TextMessage reads from your iPhone backup. Plug your iPhone or iPad into your Mac or Windows computer and back it up. You need to make a local backup and NOT and iCloud backup. Here are specific instructions on how to back up your device. After making a backup, restart Decipher TextMessage and you should see your device in the program.
If you have backed up your device and still don't see your device in the left-hand column of Decipher TextMessage, select "Preferences" in the Decipher TextMessage menu and "un-check" the Hide Empty Devices option. Then restart the program and see if your device appears.
If you're being prompted for a backup password in Decipher TextMessage, then your backup is encrypted and the password is needed to read any of the data within your iPhone backup. If you don't know the backup password, then this article may be helpful to help you remember it!
Click the "Check for Updates" button at the top of the Decipher TextMessage window to ensure you're running the latest version, compatible with the latest changes to iTunes, iOS, macOS, and Windows.
